Three VCTs at over 80% capacity
Last tax year saw VCTs raising the highest amount in a decade. Early signs suggest the current could be another record-breaking year.
So far, more than £240 million has been raised – higher than at the same point last year. Popular VCT offers have raised the lion’s share of that amount, and are filling fast. For instance, three of our featured offers, Albion VCTs, Mobeus VCTs and Pembroke VCT are at over 80% capacity and may close soon.
Who’s raised what? How much capacity is left? Below we give an overview of our featured offers, our favourites among current offers.
The message seems clear: if you are an experienced investor and see something you like, it may be wise considering acting now, whilst there’s still choice.
Albion VCTs – at 83% capacity
The Albion VCTs give you access to a diversified portfolio which includes a mix of old-style asset-based investments, renewable energy projects as well as earlier and later-stage technology companies.
The offer has so far raised £28.1 million of the £34 million fundraising target (23 Dec) and three of the five VCTs have already closed. When you invest through Wealth Club you receive an annual rebate of 0.10% for three years.
Maven VCTs – 24 Jan deadline for early bird saving
The Maven VCTs give you access to a mix of early-stage investments, many sourced from the regions, as well as Maven’s legacy investments which could potentially provide ballast to the portfolio.
At £15 million, this is a small offer, and the two VCTs have so far raised £6.6 million (27 Dec 2020). Invest by noon on 24 January 2020 (cleared funds) to benefit from the 1.25% early bird saving (1.5% for existing shareholders). When you invest through Wealth Club you also receive an annual rebate of 0.10% for three years.
Mobeus VCTs – at over 83% capacity
The Mobeus VCTs give you access to a well diversified portfolio currently almost equally split between yield-producing MBO deals and younger companies with growth potential.
The offer has so far raised £48.4 million of the £58 million fundraising target including overallotment (3 Jan). The Income & Growth VCT is now closed and there is less than £800k capacity left in Mobeus Income & Growth VCT. Total remaining capacity across the three VCTs is £9.6 million. When you invest through Wealth Club you receive an annual rebate of 0.10% for three years.
Octopus Titan VCT – raised £63.6 million
Octopus Titan VCT is the largest UK VCT and the eighth largest Venture Capital fund in Europe. It backs early-stage companies with the aim to find tomorrow’s £1 billion businesses.
Over a third of all the money raised by VCTs in the last tax year went into Octopus Titan VCT. So far this year the VCT has raised £63.6 million of its £120 million fundraising target (2 Jan) – more than any other current VCT offer. When you invest through Wealth Club you receive an annual rebate of 0.25% for three years.
Pembroke VCT – at 88% capacity, £2.4 million left
Pembroke VCT is a relatively new VCT (originally set up in 2013) which already has a significant portfolio of growth capital investments – £39 million across 34 companies. Interestingly, some of those companies are in sectors, such as niche retail and hospitality, which are often neglected by other VCTs.
In the current offer, the VCT has raised £17.6 million (3 Jan) of its £20 million fundraising target. When you invest through Wealth Club you receive an annual rebate of 0.15% for three years.
