The manager

The Mariana Growth EIS is managed by Enterprise Investment Partners (EIP), which manages over £100 million in tax-efficient investments, including a number of renewable energy projects.

The investment adviser and asset manager is Mariana.

Mariana has a background running EIS funds in renewable energy and waste management alongside a portfolio of other tax efficient investments.

The offer

This fund is an evergreen offering which will invest in companies that Mariana believes offers a product or service which is in high demand, has an experienced management team and operates in a sector with positive macroeconomic conditions.

Mariana will take a seat on the board of each portfolio company in order to monitor performance and support the management to aid the growth of the business. The Mariana team has a wide network of corporate contacts which provide a source of deals which is also supported by companies seeking funding approaching Mariana directly.

Risks – important

This, like all investments available through Wealth Club, is only for experienced investors happy to make their own investment decisions without advice.

EIS investments are high-risk so should only form part of a balanced portfolio and you should not invest money you cannot afford to lose. They also tend to be illiquid and hard to sell and value. Before you invest, please carefully read the Risks and Commitments and the offer documents to ensure you fully understand the risks.

Tax rules can change and benefits depend on circumstances.

This EIS fund invests in early-stage businesses which are more likely to fail than larger ones. So you should expect a number of failures in the portfolio.

This is a new fund and so does not have a track record, although the management teams of both Mariana and EIP do have experience in EIS investing in similar sectors.

While Mariana believes these sectors currently benefit from positive macroeconomic conditions, there is no guarantee this will always be the case. These sectors are potentially susceptible to legislative changes which could detrimentally impact the portfolio companies.
