For a lot of investors Private Equity remains an unknown quantity – they don’t fully understand what it is, or what it could add to their portfolio.
But this could be a missed opportunity, as Jonathan Moyes, our Head of Investment Research, explained when I sat down with him recently. You can see our conversation in this 15-minute video, where we discuss:
- Why Private Equity is still below the radar of many investors
- The new semi-liquid funds that have already seen a huge uptake among US ‘everyday millionaires’
- Key benefits (and risks) of Private Equity versus stock markets
Important: The information on this website is for experienced investors. It is not a personal recommendation to invest. If you’re unsure, please seek advice. Investments are for the long term. They are high risk and illiquid and can fall as well as rise in value: you could lose all the money you invest
Private equity: how to invest like the super rich
New Private Markets platform – opening up an expanding universe of investment opportunities
Our Private Markets platform is the first service of its kind in the UK – catering to experienced investors. If you are eligible, you can invest in semi-liquid Private Equity funds for as little as £10,000. The platform includes funds run by some of the world’s top managers. Our aim is to make buying these types of investments as easy as buying a unit or investment trust.
Semi-liquid funds have taken the US by storm. Over $380bn has been invested, mostly in the last two years. Now, they’re finally available to DIY investors in the UK, all in one place.
Semi-liquid funds offer a more flexible way for individual investors to access Private Equity and other Private Markets.
Much like a unit trust, the investment is evergreen – you can invest when you like. When you invest, your capital is deployed across the whole portfolio. You can also ask to redeem your investment on a rolling basis – usually once per quarter (although they are still for the long term and restrictions can apply).
