Private Markets and Real Assets

Private Markets & Real Assets, often referred to as Alternative Investments, broadly refer to investing (through equity or debt) in:

  • Companies that are privately owned (i.e. not traded on a public stock exchange, the bond or commodities markets) or
  • Real assets, such as infrastructure, natural resources, or real estate.

What do Private Markets and Real Assets comprise?

There are a number of private markets asset classes eligible investors could use to access private companies:

Private Equity

Acquiring ownership stakes in private companies. Private equity can be accessed on a deal-by-deal basis or through specialist funds.

Private Credit or Debt

Acquiring loans and debt securities in private companies. Private credit can be accessed on a deal-by-deal basis or through specialist funds.

Real Assets

Purchasing a share in physical assets, such as real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources. Real Assets can be accessed on a deal-by-deal basis (e.g. Forestry Investments) or through specialist funds.
